Time Marches On

Have you ever looked at something /someone and realized that time marches on?  Time keeps moving,  even though it may feel like yesterday that you did it.  I definitely had that realization when I met up with the family I used to be a nanny for.  I mean,  how are the girls I helped raise 8 1/2 and 6 already?  Oh and the have a new little sister whose already 1?  Crazy!

It was so much fun to be able to meet up with them last week, along with my best friend Adriane, and let the kids have some fun in Barton Creek Mall.  I remember when I was a teenager, thinking that the mall was SO big and we would honestly ALWAYS get lost in it! Since then, I have come to realize its basically a two story square, with a lot of different pathways to get to the same place.

My best friend and I decided to get manicures/pedicures with Brielle before meeting up with Val and the girls (the family I used to take care of), and let me tell you, Brielle was definitely not having just me get a pedicure, SHE got one too! She soaked her feet in the water, sat very still while the lady painted her toenails, and sat still long enough for them to dry! I didn’t know who that little girl was, because at home she is so impatient with the drying of the nails part! It was precious to experience it with my baby and my best friend.

Afterwards, we met up with all the girls at Legoland, and all the girls had fun picking out new games, and they even have a sample of different examples that you could make, so the kids in the store could see what they were buying! I loved that the place was interactive, and that’s definitely one store in the mall that won’t get you dirty looks when your child is running around touching/picking up everything!

We then decided it was cute if the girls got to go to Great American Cookies (which is where Adriane worked in high school), and they all picked out a cookie.  It was a very fun, but oh so cute, mess!  Then, it was time for build-a-bear (just to look and see all the amazing new stuff they have), and then it was time for a potty break at Pottery Barn Kids (which was SO cute) and the girls had fun pretending and using their imagination walking throughout the store. Thank goodness for a restroom that is small enough for kids to sit on, and it was VERY clean!

It was such a great time and I loved that I got to see some of my favorite people, all in the same place (which is so rare since I usually just go to Austin for work!).   Can’t believe 8 years have passed since I was a Nanny (still, HANDS down, best job ever!).  Here is the next 8 years!  🙂
