5 facts you might not know

shane (1)

  1. His middle is Lamar.  That’s why our firstborn was named after him.  I will forever cherish and love that Lamar carried his Daddy’s name with him, right to heaven.  RIP Lamar Grant Johnson 07-14-2012.
  2. He was born and raised in Yoakum, and has never lived anywhere else (Besides 2 years in college, but then came back home every summer).
  3. He has been at the same job, for nine years now.  NINE! That’s insane.  And pretty dang incredible, if you ask me! I admire his hard work and determination and I myself have never had a full time job (yes, worked 2 part time jobs that equal full time hours) and can’t imagine doing something day in, day out for nine years.
  4. That some of his top favorite shows to watch are Vampire Diaries, The Walking Dead, WWE, and Orange Is The New Black.
  5. That he has a chipped front tooth. He was riding a moped with his cousin, and hit a drip in the driveway, flew off and fell face first and chipped his tooth. He has had multiple replacements, and they always fall off, so they he has been rocking the “chipped tooth” look for years now!

Father’s Day 2015!

Father’s Day 2015!

Father’s Day means so much more to me then many other people.  Growing up I did not have a father that was involved in my life.  I remember all of his promises to come get me and my brother at my house just to spend the day with us or even spend the night once in a blue moon.  We waited for hours and hours looking through this small little window next to our door just waiting for his car to pull up to our drive way.  Looking back, I should have known within the first few times to quit waiting for him to come, but as a child, you don’t know really know that your parents could lie to you or not speak the truth.  Thank you to my mom, Step-Dad David, and Mike for being the father figures in my life when I needed one the most.

The moment I met Shane, I knew he was going to be a great father.  The way he loves his nieces/cousins was adorable, and I know without a doubt that he would make an AMAZING dad!  He would be the only one that would actually get on the ground and act like a kid with all the children, and just play with them(which is what most kids want to do all day anyways).

When we decided to have children, I couldn’t wait to see him be a Father.  Shane is so sweet, and just has a sense of calmness about him that I knew would work so well with all of the late nights during parenthood.  He immediately stepped up to the belt and helped me in any way he could throughout each pregnancy and with all of our babies.  I always would hear about husbands not doing anything to help their wife out with the changing the diaper, feeding the baby, getting them dressed.. and with Shane, he just did it.  It was a process and something he learned how to do but let me tell you to this day, he makes sure his babies bottoms are VERY clean and it may take him a little longer to do it then me, but I know there will no left over residue from dirty diaper changes, lol!

We spent Father’s Day this year going shopping for Shane to get a new fishing reel, and just some extra fishing lures that he was running out of.  Brielle even picked out a special lure that he used last week and he caught a ton of fish on it and was one happy Daddy! Brielle and I also crafted some cute little things that were special to us and gave him that Sunday morning.  I cannot believe how much Shane has grown from being in High School, to now being an adult and a father to our 3 precious babies!

Thank you Shane for actively being involved in raising your children, and loving them all the way they deserve to be loved! I love having someone to walk through this life with! 🙂

Oh and of course we couldn’t end our day without going fishing just for him, and we all caught fish and had a great family time.

Happy 28th birthday!

Happy 28th birthday!

Wow, I cannot believe that my husband turns 28 today! When people say time flies, it truly does.  How in the world did God bless me with him 10 years ago? We both feel like we have been together for so long, that we are ready to turn the page for a new chapter in our lives. 🙂

Throughout the past 10 years I have learned so much about patience, kindness, and how to relax more from this man.  You know that phrase opposites attract? I couldn’t believe it any more when it comes to both he and I.  I am so thankful for his patience with me throughout all of these years, and with Brielle.  Brielle is definitely in her toddler stage and knows how to push just the right buttons with the right people, and is always so calm and patient with her, which I truly admire. Kindness truly comes from the bottom of his heart, and he really will give the shirt off of his back to any one who asks.  Relaxation is Shane’s way of staying calm and he definitely knows how to do it well.  It is so hard for me to shut my brain off with all the things running through it constantly, but with him, it comes with such ease.

Fishing is probably Shane’s biggest passion in life (along with God, family, and friends of course) and he truly is AMAZING at it.  I mean, how many people can wait for hours just to get one fish, and then go back the next week determined to try new tactics and catch about 20?  Probably not many.  I used to jealous of how good he was at it, and how he truly found what he was really good at, at such a young age.  I still admire the fact that his passion for fishing has never died.  He has actually taught our not even 2 year old toddler to fish pretty dang well, so watch out world. 🙂

Thank you Shane for truly being you for the past 10 years.  You have always been a hard-working, loyal, God-loving, devoted man and I am so thankful you are my husband.  Here’s to the next 10 years and the next chapter of our lives! 🙂
