16 week check up for baby Johnson

16.jpg

So last week (on Tuesday 8/15/17 to be exact), I had my 16 week well check with my OB to check up on baby Johnson!

I had to take my two boys with me (my 6 yr old and my 3 yr old foster sons) which surprisingly they did better than I anticipated, knowing that most appointments take me 1-2 hours to complete.

I hate weighing in each appointment, but this week I actually lost 2 pounds (which did not bring up any concern), and knowing that my heart rate and Blood pressure are within normal limits, and all my labs are looking great definitely made me feel good.

I saw my doctor first this time, and we talked about not revealing the gender until birth, which hospital we were still going to deliver at (since I have to register at 20 weeks gestation), and basically just if I had any concerns (which I did not at this time). I then went to go get my ultrasound done (which was awesome because my boys got to see the baby on the screen for the first time and were truly AMAZED by it!

The heart rate for the baby was 147 BPM which was great, and then we got to see him/her kicking and moving around so much and it just melted my heart.  I love knowing that their is a little precious life growing inside of me, but since I can’t feel him/her that often yet, knowing that the baby is ok is just so reassuring. Everything turned out great and there were no concerns at this time.

At my office during the ultrasounds, they offer one complimentary session of having all of the baby’s workup (heartbeat, measurements, etc) sent directly to your cell phone through a link, and you can save all that information to your phone.  It was so amazing!!  They said next time they will start billing the insurance if you want to continue using that route.

You guys, I am so excited and happy for our precious baby, and I can’t wait to see what these next 24 weeks hold!

I wanted to leave you with a couple of pictures as always:

Psalms 127: 3-5 describes how truly honored and blessed I am that God gave me and Shane another chance at having a baby (and a completely healthy one at that)!

12 weeks and growing!

So we got to see our perfect little baby a couple of days ago, at my 12 week check-up!

At first when I got called back, I was able to pay the $10 to get a copy of the ultrasound and it was so amazing to see this fully formed baby now on the screen, instead of the little blur we saw a few weeks ago! His/Her heart was just a fluttering away, at a rate of 154bpm, and he/she was just kicking away!

We decided to not do the genetic testing early on (unless something was to appear abnormal on the ultrasound) and the sonographer did what is called NTS known as Nuchal Translucency screening which is:

The nuchal (say “NEW-kuhl”) translucency screening is a test done during pregnancy. It uses ultrasound to measure the thickness of the fluid buildup at the back of the developing baby’s neck. If this area is thicker than normal, it can be an early sign of Down syndrometrisomy 18, or heart problems.

This test was performed during Lamar and Rochelle’s sonograms early on to detect that there was a problem.  Both of their measurements were thick, which led us to find out more about them having Trisomy 18 and Trisomy 13.

The results were almost immediate and the sonographer stated the measurement was 1.4cm and said that the baby was in the “normal” range(which is <3.5cm I believe) for a healthy baby!

I was have this overwhelming peace throughout this pregnancy that I have never had  before.  God is protecting us and this baby wholeheartedly and it just amazes me each and every day that I have another child of His growing inside of me! I am so glad to see how God works each and every day in this baby’s life and story.

I will leave you with the two sonogram pictures that we got, and just wanted to let everyone know that we will NOT be revealing the gender of the baby the entire pregnancy, due to the fact that we are waiting until delivery to find out the gender!

***Thank you to everyone for your sweet prayers, and your kind thoughts! Please keep them coming, we have <28 weeks until we meet baby Johnson!***

36 week check-up!

Baby: 36 weeks and 5 days! Rochelle is now shedding most of the hair that has covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa that we will see at birth.  She is able to swallow that substance which will result in a black mixture called meconium which she will have in her first bowel movement post birth! We had an ultrasound today which showed that baby girl is weighing in around 5 pounds 10 oz. (the 18th percentile) and still has long legs and arms, and the only odd thing was that her abdomen was measuring at 33 weeks so the sonographer did some more extensive test to see what else could cause a small growth in the belly but they said everything came back normal.  My doctor stated that this sometimes happens when the baby stops growing overall which would result in an immediate delivery but since there are no other signs of slowed or delayed growth throughout her body he is going to continue to let me carry her as scheduled.

Mommy:  I am officially 3cm dilated and 50% effaced! Which means, I could have baby girl naturally sooner than expected without having to be induced! I have officially told both of my jobs that this is going to be my last week of working because as it is looking right now, we might be having her a couple of weeks early! My hospital bag has been packed and I take it with me even when I work in Austin, because at the end of the day you just we just never know when baby Rochelle wants to present herself to everyone!

Daddy: Has been cleaning and organizing with me like crazy lately trying to get our house and everything else in order before Rochelle makes her arrival.  Since today’s appointment I think Shane and I did the most cleaning we have done in a long time! So glad Daddy is able to take off work and be with me at every appointment and during the delivery and hopefully a couple of weeks after! He can’t wait to meet baby Rochelle as well!

Cravings: This last week it has been popcorn.  Not just any popcorn though, the popcorn from the Friday night football games.  I even called my sister in law when I didn’t go to the game to meet Shane at the front gate for some popcorn so I could have some that night while we caught up on our shows.  Crazy!

Brielle: Has been doing great with her independent play and just using her mind in so many different ways lately to put things together.  You can definitely tell this is a huge growth and learning period for her since she is interested in everything anyone is doing.  One of her favorite things to do is “ring around the rosie” and she can literally do that over and over again! Does anyone know how hard it is to keep getting up and down at almost 37 weeks pregnant?  lol! The things we do for our kids these days 🙂

Of course we celebrated another week down in the pregnancy by going to eat at Olive Garden and then went to Discount Tire to see which of my tires needed to be replaced since I have only had one flat time and replaced that since I got my vehicle and turns out after 40,000 miles all three of my tires needed to be so needless to say that was a huge unexpected expense but we are glad we did it before Rochelle came.  One less thing we have to check off of our never-ending to do lists! 🙂

I love this crazy pic of Brielle and Shane!

We’re pregnant!

pregnant-2

Yes, you read the Title right! We just found out two days ago(3/10/14)! I know many of you think, AGAIN?? Well to us family is so important and we do plan out everything and try to have our future well planned out for our children.  We decided a month ago to start trying thinking that sometime this year we will be pregnant and welcome a baby sometime in 2015. Well it turns out we will be welcoming this boy or girl a lot sooner than expected! We planned on having Brielle and the baby between 18-24 months apart which is a nice range for each child to be in their own stages in development.  Our date is 11-17-2014 which I am sure will change many times along the way but I cannot believe Brielle is going to be a BIG sister!

We actually started planning Brielle’s first birthday already and are planning to do a HUGE surprise for everyone at the party and let everyone know at the time.  I have always told my mom and my best friend first so this is going to be a MAJOR secret to keep for the next 12-13 weeks!
We took the pregnancy test and it said 2-3 weeks pregnant, so we are planning on making an appointment to go see my doctor pretty soon and schedule for a check-up and our first ultrasound! This would make me being pregnant for three years in a row.  While some women may look at me like I am crazy, I LOVE it, and being a parent is the best thing in the world!
I am so in shock with this pregnancy and I am so blessed that God allowed us to get pregnant again and carry another baby.  All we hope and pray for is that this baby is healthy! Can’t wait to see the first ultrasound!

YAY!! So happy!

Brielle is showing her excitement!
Daddy is happy!!
