1 week already!!

week 1.png.png

First off, I cannot believe that Malachi has been here for a week already! Shane has two weeks off of work to spend with us at home, and it has been the greatest in the world to see him bond with his son, and have the ability to spend more time with our other 4 kids at home as well!

He had his first check-up which went great.   The Doctor did a head to toe exam and everything checked out just fine, no concerns were noted at this time.  He also wanted to make sure he was gaining back the little bit of weight that he had lost at the hospital, and it turns out that he had gained all the weight back and then some! He now weighs 8 pounds 1 oz. and still 19 1/4 inches long.  He stated that overall he was a healthy little boy and that he will see us in two weeks for his PKU follow up.

Let me tell you, Malachi is a great eater, great sleeper, and such a laid-back child! I know this is just newborn bliss, but I am loving every single minute of it! All of the kids are loving having a baby brother as well, and it’s so cute to watch each of them develop their own personal bond and relationship with him!

I wanted to share some pictures I have taken this last week, since I want to remember Malachi this small, forever! I know even in a few weeks his looks will change, and he will start to fill out, so I definitely wanted to make sure I captured all these sweet moments now! ♥

FYI my boys have to be blurred due to them being in foster care and it’s to protect their privacy! 🙂

Thank you ALL for your sweet comments on our surprise (gender wise) baby boy! We are so blessed and thankful to have him!

Family Day October 2016

This family day was so so good! It was actually a family weekend for all the kiddos! On Saturday, the kids, my parents, my sister in law, and Shane all went to Family Link (our foster/adoption agency) for a Fall Festival.  They had such a fun time with pumpkin painting, training with the fireman, and a lot of fun for the kids!

After all the cousins spent the night together, they spent Sunday together just cherishing the little things.  The bond between them is unbreakable and after almost 2 months of not seeing each other, they spent so much time just playing, laughing, sharing (and not sharing so well at times, lol) and telling each other everything.  It’s so sweet to watch them grow!!

We started these monthly family visits in honor of our sweet baby Rochelle.  After she passed, we knew the thing she loved the most is to be surrounded by those she loved she most.  It’s so important to be with those you love as much as possible!

Likes:
-To be talked to, and she will SMILE so much!! I know a laugh is coming soon!
-To chew on her hands..could a possible teeth be forming?? Ah so fun!
-To eat.  She has increased her feedings by 1 oz. and she is tolerating it pretty well! It’s the small things, y’all!
-To be in her swing looking around!  You can definitely tell she is seeing color which is awesome because she looks so intently at objects and pictures now.
-To be outside.  Big new favorite thing of hers!
-To be with Brielle.  They are seriously two peas in a pod!! She smiles so big every time Brielle is around!

Dislikes:
– Tummy time.  She really doesn’t like it very much, but she is gaining so much core strength and can last much longer now! So proud of her!
– Sleep (at times).  She is now at the age where she is fighting sleep! SO crazy how you forget these moments, until they happen again!

Teeth: No teeth! Assuming it will be quite some time before we get those in!

Language:
She is SO precious how happy she gets when we are around! She is definitely communicating through her actions a lot, and babbles, coos, and blows SO many bubbles! She will melt your heart in a minute.

Upcoming:

Family visit (1 hour every week, on Tuesdays)

MD appts: Cardiologist (Oct. 20th)

Bi-monthly visits with ECI team

Weekly visits from infant massage therapist

Monthly visits with team (now just legal worker and case worker)

60 days already?

2 months with the johnsons.jpg

First and foremost, has it really already been 2 months that we were at the hospital in San Antonio signing over paperwork to become foster parents for baby girl while she was in the NICU? Wow.  Time has flown by so fast, and I am SO happy that I have been able to capture so many of her sweet moments on camera.  We seriously LOVE doing life, with her.

Of course this past month has brought a lot of changes in our lives.. some good and some not so good (not with her, with her case) but we have learned to lean more on God and less on our own understanding.

She has grown to know each one of us more, on a deeper level.  It’s amazing how big of a smile she will give me, Brielle, and Shane when we are talking to her.   It’s SO adorable to know that she knows us so well and loves us already!

In the past month she changed so many lives ( literally everyone that meets her) and it’s so amazing.  She is a miracle.  She shouldn’t be here, but God saved her life, to be a blessing to so many other people. She gives people hope for the unknown, faith to believe that God saves us (all of us), and perseverance to keep going.

She has become my riding buddy.  We ride together to doctors visits, family visits, visits to go see family/friends, and just around town.  She is the best car-rider and I hope that never changes about her.  She fits in our schedule (daily schedule) so well, and we couldn’t be more thankful for that.

She has grown so much in the last month as well.  We had to pack up ALL of her newborn clothes (so sad, yet so exciting at the same time) and pull out her 0-3 month clothes.  She has developmentally grown by meeting more milestones, and emotionally by expressing what she wants, when she wants it.  So proud of baby girl!

We hope next month just brings us more joy, and we hope you all follow along for the ride! I will leave you some adorable pictures to look at, as well (even with her face blurred, she is still SO cute)!
