Our foster baby turns 2 months old!

Twomonths.jpg

Height: N/a Will be determined next week at doc appt. for her 2 month well check

Weight: 10 pounds taken on home scale.

Likes:

-To be talked to (she smiles SO BIG if she knows who you are)
-To kick off her blankets when she is awake
-To eat, she loves her bottle! This month we have had to find the perfect formula that worked for her (Organic earths best formula) since she appears to have a corn sensitivity.
-To be held.  Hates to be put in her playpen/crib until she is in deep sleep.
-Her bath.. only when it’s the right temperature and the A/C is off.
-To meet new and exciting milestones each week!

Dislikes:
– Cold water touching her body..ever.
– When she has a booger in one of her nostrils.  This baby has got the tiniest nostrils I have ever seen, and we have to plunge her nose at least 2X/Day to make sure it is clear enough for her to breathe effectively.

Teeth: No teeth! She literally has the cutest gummy smile!

Language:
She is cooing and interacting so much lately, it is adorable!

Milestones: She celebrated her first holiday (Independence Day)

Upcoming:

Family visit (2 hours next week on Tuesday and then 1 hour every week after that)

MD appt: 2 month appt/shots next week

monthly visits with ECI team

Monthly visits with team (now just legal worker and case worker)

I wanted to leave you here with a couple of cute pictures!!

Our little secret- Happy Father’s Day!

Rainbow Agenda.jpg

So we have a surprise for everyone that I figured would be best to share on Father’s Day, since Shane is the best Dad out there! WE ARE PREGNANT!

God has granted us the most gift of all, a baby.  A tiny, little human that is going to grow, and flourish inside of me for the next 7 months! We are still early in our pregnancy, but decided since ALL of our family and friends already know, we might as well announce the GREAT news to you all!

**Just a little background, I wanted to give you all the definition of a rainbow baby**

A “rainbow baby” is a baby that is born following a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or infant loss.In the real world, a beautiful and bright rainbow follows a storm and gives hope of things getting better. The rainbow is more appreciated having just experienced the storm in comparison

We have prayed for our hearts to be ready, to be open and receptive to His will, and do things in His timing. So thankful we listened to Him.

The crazy part is that I found out we were expecting 5 days before Shane’s 30th birthday, so I wanted to give him the news that day.  The irony is that, we didn’t know that we would have to give back the precious foster baby that we have raised since birth, on that day as well.  God knew that our heart needed extra protection and love that day. So thankful for His goodness and mercy!

I wanted to leave you all with a few pics that we took as a family!

(first I will show you how I let Shane know the great news, and his reaction was the greatest of all time!)

Time to catch up + Giveaway Time

brielleblog

I truly can’t believe Friday has come once again! It seems so long away on Mondays, and then before you know it.. it’s the weekend!  I am linking up with Karli, who blogs on over at September Farm to tell you about five happenings with the Johnsons, this Friday!

First off, let me apologize for not really blogging in the last couple of weeks.  Once all my kids went back to school, I thought I would have the time/motivation to keep this going pretty steady.. but that didn’t exactly happen! So, I wanted to do a little catch up with you all and a pretty cool giveaway at the end!

  1. My oldest two went to get their updated psychological evaluations done, which I am pretty excited to see what the outcome of that is.  When children are in foster care, they must do this yearly to keep up with how the children are adjusting to their families, friends, foster parents, and overall environment.   I will be most interested in seeing a comparison from when they first came into the “system” to see where they are at now.
  2. My infamous overscheduling occurred again where I was supposed to take baby girl to get her monthly synergis shots at the same time as the boys needed to be taken out of school to make their counseling appointment on time.  Let’s just say.. Nana and Papa are the absolute greatest!!
  3. Baby girl has had some HUGE milestones happening lately, especially for a mircopreemie such as herself.  She is 9 months old (but 5 months old adjusted age since she was born 4 more months early), and for the first time is able to sit on her own (even if it’s for a little while), and making huge strides in weight growth  (baby girl is 15 pounds now which is so good for her), and making a lot of improvement in her ability to turn from back to belly!
  4. I spoke to the Lawyer for the first time who is going to be representing us in the fight for custody for baby girl! Nothing can be officially made until baby girl has been with us for 6 months, but hopefully soon we will know something regarding her case and where to go from here!
  5. I got all my boys a hair cut(including my husbands) and that was the best money I have spent in a long time! Their hair cuts have been WAY overdue, and we keep saying every time that “the next check we will make time to do it”, but I decided today was going to be the day, and they all LOVED it! They look so handsome and so grown up!!

** Now best for LAST!

The Great Eight!

z1

So it finally occurred to me how close my boys birthdays are, when just TWO days after Christmas, we were caught celebrating yet ANOTHER birthday, in our house! So basically I have come to the conclusion that time really does FLY by and that my boys being 9 days apart will definitely be a problem later on, haha!

I don’t know if it’s the fact that I now have 5 children, but it truly feels like we are celebrating something ALL the time.  A birthday, a “first”, a milestone, and it’s definitely overwhelming to try to stay on top of everything! I wouldn’t trade it for the world, and I hope all my kids love that they will have these precious memories to look back on one day!

So back to the birthday boy..  yep he turned 8! And it’s so crazy to me to think that in 10 years he will be considered an adult.. what?? SO much has happened, and will continue to occur with this young man, and I truly hope that everything that has been done, can be helped/fixed in the future.

He is now a whopping 60 pounds and 4 ft 5 in. tall (taken at our house, but his officially MD appointment will be tomorrow).  He is crazy (definitely the wild child of the bunch), has the drive to learn so much, wants to be the best/greatest at every.single.task he does, and he truly can be the greatest young man(when he wants to) 😉

He has definitely put some burdens on our family, but he has also been a huge blessing as well.   What I would want him to remember later on is two things:

(1) Always try your hardest

(2) Always give respect to those giving you respect

I know he will be successful one day and I can’t wait to see that!

Happy birthday to our eldest! I think he would say he had a GREAT day filled with homemade birthday cake, cookies, presents, and LOTS of one on one time! (His favorite thing)!

I will leave you with a few pictures (of course his face has to be blurred due to foster are regulations)!
