Dirty thirty.. or something like that

It’s here! My 30th birthday! It’s funny how much I have matured in my 20’s that I truly just want to spend precious time with my family doing something very minimal (maybe dinner + a drink.)

I also have so many dreams and aspirations that have come over me throughout this past year, that I definitely want to make happen in my 30’s! So without further ado, I would like to list 30 things I hope to accomplish/do while in my thirties (in no particular order!)

  • Start a side business
  • Re-brand my blog/social media
  • Write and publish my first book
  • Read the entire Bible
  • Workout consistently
  • Stop biting my nails
  • Capture all of my kids major milestones
  • Dive into supporting other foster care/adoptive mamas
  • Weed out the negative people in my life
  • Become an inspiration to so many
  • Guide, support, and love each one of my kids
  • Be the best wife possible to Shane
  • Build/buy a shed to be used as a studio
  • Make date night a priority
  • Show my kids how important it is to give to others
  • Share Lamar’s and Rochelle’s life to many
  • Travel more
  • Show up fully for the friendships I have
  • Decide if I want to further my nursing career
  • Read meaningful/inspiring books each year
  • Learn to give myself fully to God
  • Grow in the church ministry
  • Make education a priority in all of my kids
  • Make fun new recipes to add to our family menu
  • Try new and different sports/activities
  • Do more self-care
  • Fully take time off of social media to rest
  • Be the leader God is wanting me to be
  • Support each one of my kids and their activities
  • Get out of my introverted shell every once in a while

Ok, I think I did it y’all! I truly hope to look back on this blog post in 10 years and see if I accomplished all of these tasks and more!

I am not doing anything “dirty” for this 30th birthday, but I want to leave you with a couple of pictures that my best friend and my hubby took of me to have proof that A. Mom does exist and B. That every once in a while I will get photographed on the other side of the lens!

Thank you all for following along my journey!!

Love always,

The perfect shave

This post is definitely for all of the men out there (or the ladies that shave their faces!)

Shane is always trying out different shaving creams, and using different razors that will leave his face feeling moist and smooth! The problem is that in our small town H-E-B (we live in Texas) it really doesn’t have many options to choose from.

When The Mens Soap Company reached out me, I knew it would be the great match for Shane, and I couldn’t wait for him to try out the Himalaya Shaving Soap .

The all-natural ingredients was a huge YES for me (and Shane as well), and the smell of the soap is SO amazing!

When Shane first applied the soap, he literally used such a small amount and started to lather it all around his face/beard-as the company states “a perfect lather should be smooth, thick, bubble free and silky to the touch that helps blade glide over the skin, catching only the hair. The lather should not irritate skin during pre-shave application, shave and post-shave. Also, the post-shave skin should feel hydrated and moisturized.” It definitely did all of that and then some!

The smoothness that it left afterwards was amazing! Shane said “it was so easy to use, and I didn’t have to put any moisturizer/after shave on my face because it didn’t need it.”

Check out their shaving soap collection for other fragrance options. The Lavender soap sounds good, maybe we’ll try that next.

I would love what some of your favorite products are for shaving as well! Leave a comment below! 🙂

Purchase for a purpose

I cannot believe I found Rachel online (on Instagram @putonloveco) and knew immediately I liked what she stood for, her amazing jewelry, and her sweet family!

I wanted to do a little Q &A with her and find out how and she started her sweet company (PutOnLoveCo.) and share it with you all!

Me: What inspired you to create your company?

Rachel: I was noticing the tassel earring trend and couldn’t find any that I really loved.  At the time we were really struggling financially so I thought I’d make some earrings for myself since I love creating.  As I wore them people noticed and wanted to buy them!  And that’s how “Put on love Co.” was born! It has blessed our family greatly and I love how it’s opened doors to meet so many new amazing people!

Me: What motivates you to work on your jewelry line each and every day?

Rachel: I have a family of 3 boys (and one husband!) to provide for and they are my main motivation. Creating and selling these unique designs also supports us in our desire to minister to marriages and families through our other endeavors (Revival House). I also love the idea that what I craft by hand could be worn and loved by someone I may never know!

Me: What do you see for the future of your company?

Rachel: I’m working right now on ensuring that all of my materials are responsibly sourced. I care deeply about the environment and about people being compensated fairly for their work. I want to be a part of the movement that is helping ensure that fashion is beautiful, as well as ethical!

Me: If there is something that you would want every customer who purchased your earrings to take away, what would it be?

Rachel: :The name of the company is found in Colossians 3:12-14 which says, “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.  And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity..” My desire is that each woman who puts my jewelry on would be reminded that the same way she puts on accessories, she has the power to put on love, kindness, patience, compassion, and forgiveness. These are powerful ‘accessories’ that can change the world!

Y’all doesn’t her story just move you?? I love everything that she stands for (and more!) and wanted to show y’all a couple more of the earrings that I have!
These are the double Esther earrings in white-

They are lightweight (you seriously cannot even feel them on!  They are adorable looking (who hasn’t hopped on the tassel trend?) and you will look and feel so great wearing these (I even had to do my special lipstick for these precious gems.)

I would HIGHLY suggest you hop on over to her instagram, etsy, or facebook and I will provide the links below and purchase you a pair (or two!)

I hope you all head on over to one of her sites and let me know what you think! Oh and tell her that I sent you!

213 Days!

malachi 7

Y’all has 7 months really passed by? WOW! It’s been so so busy this summer, and so many changes have actually happened with Malachi within the last two weeks!

It’s hilarious that he actually does NOT want to crawl properly (he always falls down and does like a superman position in order to not do it right) but he usually gets to what he wants by turning precisely in the right direction and streeeetcchiiinnggg his long body to reach the object he is wanting.

He is getting SO big, so fast and I swear with the way things are looking (as he is seriously trying to already pull up on stuff) he might just be walking before he crawls! I have been trying to keep up with weekly pictures of him, because when he turns one, I want to make a collage for him and hang it up in his room.

Weight: 20 pounds (but feels like 40 when you are carrying him all.day.long) LOL.

Length:27 inches taken at home

-To be held! This teething machine has stuck to me like glue lately!
-To be loud!  I swear he thinks the way to be heard in this loud house of ours is to scream! Lol!
-To eat! He literally doesn’t want ANYTHING to do with baby food, and will eat smushed up table food, or just taste flavors of different foods!
-To suck his thumb when he is sleeping! I was a thumb sucker (and it did a major number on my teeth–sorry mom–but I am glad that he uses it just for nap/bed time and he doesn’t keep it in his mouth all the time).
-His bath! He recently learned how to splash and it is his favorite thing!!

– When are out of sight and he thinks he is by himself–cue the elephant tears!
– Getting dressed/undressed! He still doesn’t like the fact that people have to wear clothes!

Teeth: He has gotten 2 teeth in the past 2 days! Poor kid!! But yay, all that drooling and fussiness will hopefully subside soon once these pop through!

He says mama when he is with Shane and won’t do it for me, lol–but he hasn’t really said any more words.  He is trying to sign milk and more, but hasn’t gotten that fully either! He definitely know when you sign those two things to him though!

Milestones: He just started to pick up his back left leg to try to crawl to what he wanted but won’t fully do it yet, and he walked in a walker at my parents house (yay!) and he officially is a belly sleeper! Shane and I both are (as are all of our older 4 kids) so we knew it would probably be in his future!

MD appt:  9 month well check! And I need to schedule a dental visit now that he has some teeth!

I will leave you with a couple of adorable pictures! Thanks for stopping by!
