So this past Friday, Shane and I decided to make a trip up to Denton, Tx to see my best friend/his cousin Krystle before she heads off to law school! It’s a 5 1/2 hour drive from Yoakum, and since we were bringing Brielle we planned to make a lot of stops along the way so that she would be able to handle such a long trip!
We left early Friday morning to head to Lockhart, to have breakfast with my parents before getting the day started! We ate at one of Brielle’s favorite restaurants in Lockhart (Garcia’s) and then headed back to my parents house to change and get ready for the day! Once we were all ready and packed up, we headed towards my cousins house in Temple, Tx! After one hour already down, we had to tackle the next hour and half in the car. This time we were more awake and alert and I took this opportunity to teach Brielle. Our letter of the week was U, so we did a lot of teaching/learning in the car about the letter and did a lot of fun reading as well. It seemed like this leg of the drive went by pretty fast, and before we knew it, we showed up to Veronica and Branch’s house welcomed by Brielle’s cousin Braxton and new baby cousin Brason! It was so much fun to catch up, Shane got to take a little nap while us ladies chatted about and Brielle and Braxton got a lot of fun play time in to wear her out for the longest drive of the day! I also got a lot of baby holding time with baby Brason and LOVED every second of it! I swear, time flies from when babies are newborns to now toddler hood and you forget some of the precious sweet moments when they are calm, quiet, and just really fuss when they are hungry! Oh, the days!
After we left Temple, we grabbed lunch and headed out to Denton, Tx!! It was an all day trip, and we were so happy to have checked in the hotel and then went to meet my best friend Krystle (shane’s cousin) at Chuck E Cheese so that Brielle and her daughter Pariss could run around and play before dinner at Johnny Carino’s! The girls had so much fun and I don’t know why that place always brings out the inner child in adults, haha! Dinner was so delicious and the bread is just uh-mazing! Afterwards we all called it a night and Shane and Brielle went straight to sleep and I was stuck awake ALL night feeling so sick to my stomach/shane snoring so loud that I could not sleep! After about 5:30am I couldn’t take it anymore and I asked Shane to go walk across the street to go get me some pepto bismol. Thankfully, I went to sleep around 7:30ish and got a couple hours in before having to all shower and get ready for the day and check out of the hotel.
I still did not feel my best when went to breakfast at this cute little cafe around the corner from our hotel with Krystle and her boyfriend, and one of Shane’s friends from college Chaq. It was awesome to just catch up and have a great meal before heading back home. It was time to head to Hutto, Tx to visit my best friend Adirane on our way home and surprisingly Brielle did GREAT the entire way, with only one little short stop at starbucks so everyone could stretch! Checking out Adriane’s new house was GORGEOUS and we are beyond thrilled for her and Jimmy!
It was so nice to go eat at Mesa Rosa in Round Rock and bring back old memories, and then head to my parents house in Lockhart, to rest and refresh that Sunday before having to work in Austin. Overall, it was a quick trip but definitely fun and so worth it!! I am so glad to see everyone in such a short amount of time, and I am so happy that Brielle got to come! Usually, we would let her stay with my parents because she is does NOT do good in the car for long trips, but she did so amazing this time and hopefully gives us some hope for future trips!
I will leave you with a few pictures from the trip! 🙂
