Well as some of you may have guessed, Brielle was pretty much obsessed with Barney this last year, so I thought I might as well make it her theme for her second birthday! I asked my friend Courtney who owns the shop DaYutes to make Brielle a Barney themed tutu dress, which she looked SO precious in and everyone loved it and she wore it about 3/4 of her party before eating and doing other messy activities.
For Brielle’s invitation I got it custom made from Happy Thoughts Digital on Etsy and people thought they were so cute!
For the decorations I bought a wooden number 2 and painted it purple and green so people could sign in on it (with a silver and black special paint pen) and hang it up in her room. I bought a barney themed balloon kit and some extra balloons that day just to have them spread out. I had 5 mason jars and spray painted them with gold glitter and bought some fake flowers from Wal-Mart (purple and green variety) and decorated them throughout the house, they also had a cream colored bow wrapped around them. I bought streamers that my brother and his girlfriend hung up throughout the house, and my mom printed out all of the labels for each station. We also bought purple and green table cloths and some small barney decorations to spread across the house. The party favors had a special label also made from Happy Thoughts Digital on Etsy. Of course we couldn’t have a party without a piñata and I LOVED Brielle’s, as did she!! I got it made with the streamers so that people could just pull the string instead of having the kids hit it with a stick and potentially injuring someone. It was a huge hit!
For the games this year I wanted to incorporate an alphabet station (similar to the one at her baby shower) and I just wanted to get them all laminated and make it into a book for her, now that we are learning a new letter each week! I also wanted a ball toss station, a ball pit station, a connect four station for the older kiddos, and an area for the kids to decorate the foam barney’s that I cut out and I bought a lot of foam stickers and the kids loved to decorate.
For the food we kept it pretty simple with Barney colored Grapes on a stick, trail mix, mandarin oranges in the shape of a 2, barney colored chips and dip and we had a green and purple punch with a bucket on the bottom full of juices for kids, bottled water, and soda for the adults.
For the desserts we went with a cake made by the wonderful Jamie Kifer and it was so adorable and delicious. The cookies were Barney shaped and they were SO delicious made by Adrienne Machacek. My best friend made the delicious cake cops that were purple with green sprinkles and individually wrapped and our other friend brought 2 dozen purple and green cupcakes that were so good! Let me just tell you, everyone wanted to take the desserts home with them on top of what they had already ate. So yummy!
We also had a donation station to benefit the families of the Ronald MdDonald House in Austin and we filled up the entire thing, AMAZING! We also ended up giving them the extra party favors for the kids there, they were so thankful!
Overall, the party was a success, and we cannot believe our baby girl is now 2!! Here are a lot of fun pictures from the party! Thank you to everyone who came. We appreciated all the love and support!
